My hair

I do not normally show you pictures of myself, but I cannot hold this one from you. It is like one of those 'awkward' ones that you see involving crass weddings or the mild mistreatment of children in family poses.

It was taken in the far-off days when I worked for the theatre company represented by the tall blonde man and the dark-haired woman. The one in the middle was the third performer who only lasted for one season, because he is/was a prima donna who was constantly ill. I (seated) was the driver/technician. The photo was taken in our friend's apartment in Hamburg.

It was sent to me by the German friend who lived there this morning. You may find it hard to believe that the yellow-shirted chap is not gay. Our German friend - who is gay - was fooled by him, so he does the best impersonation of a gay man than any other heterosexual I know.

I vaguely remember the two lads in the background. They were helpers assigned to us for the shows in Hamburg.

I remember that Summer. It was a hot one on Continental Europe. Just outside that window is the infamous Reeperbahn and there is a clock/thermometer nearby. That day it read 34 degrees.

I miss those days, but they will - like my dark hair - never return.

  1. Memories, memories eh Tom. Those days will never return - as one gets older in my experience then the reaction to those words is 'thank goodness.'

  7. The gay looking chap is gay looking in this particular picture because he looks like he is wearing women's clothes, in my opinion.

    1. Cap-sleeve T-shirts have never been masculine, even with muscles.

  8. I cannot imagine such curls.I have an Irish friend with tight red curls to die for. He cut his own hair; said barbers didn't have a clue.

  13. A very Happy Birthday to you, Tom.

I wanted to have a catch up on blogs this evening and started here. What luck! Means I can send you birthday wishes while it is still your birthday.

Other comments: the scented stock seedlings are looking good, my local grocery shop's Brit shelf carries Colman mustard in powdered format, the bird on the crown was a good photo, and that might be all I can remember.

  15. Sorry Tom, I am a day late to say happy birthday. I hope you celebrated it in good company.
You are hansome there in your dark hair but I think white hair on a 66 year olds can be very attractive too.
    Greetings Maria x

  17. One digit off the Number of the Beast. How apt! There's something about that tower in the background that looks like a Tardis hovering over you all like a portent of Doom...
