It isn't a plaster finish, but looks like one. See below. I am also distressed on a regular basis.

No, but it is a happy accident which has been enhanced and/or cherished. Some thin lining paper was put on the wall around 50+ years ago, and has stretched and split naturally, exposing the pale green paint beneath it. When H.I. first painted over it (using natural pigments) she was careful not to put the paint into the cracks, so they are picked out in green. The colour is very close to the hue of ordinary damp ppink plaster. The wall has been treated like this for about 45 years.
H.I. has been living in that flat for 45 years? Then I do know who she is! We went round there once with Sasha, who was a bit younger than their daughter.
