The life of a recluse beckons

I've just joined a Facebook group page devoted to The Archers (don't ask if you don't know) in order to escape all the Syrian stuff, the music stuff, the selfies, the nostalgic photos of times gone by, the homophobic rants, the Corbyn stuff, the arrangements to meet for drinks which could have been done via email, the pictures of cute animals which could have been sent exclusively to people who actually want them, etc. etc.

The membership of this group has rocketed to almost 2500 in a matter of days, and now - guess what? - it is being hi-jacked by all of the above.

I stopped attending demonstrations years ago, because they are ALWAYS hi-jacked by a small group of violent lunatics intent on causing as much trouble as possible, simply because it will get them the full glare of media publicity.

I cannot believe I have lost my sense of humour again, only a few days in to this page. It was all going so well.

  2. Divert them to floods. Topical and a previous storyline.

  3. Surely there's a Donald Trump facebook page you could join?

  4. Try The Urban Sketchbook Facebook page - always interesting and doesn't seem to attract trolls or other nastiness!

  5. In my neighborhood, there are a number of buildings that are large, expensive and ugly. A person who is currently claiming that he wants to be President is responsible for those buildings. I try to avert my eyes when passing by these buildings, but it's not always easy.

I persevere in treating people I encounter with courtesy, and even aim for some humor.

    Best wishes.

    1. Now I am worried about the 'best wishes' bit.

    2. What's that phrase...no worries.

Just this afternoon, walking westward from an Upper Eastside medical appointment, I noticed lots of NYPD presence around a building associated with the Presidential contender. Hoping my taxes aren't funding this...I'd rather choose some schools, libraries or repairs to last winter's street potholes.

  8. I am sure your sense of humour is still around somewhere Tom - proably hidden under a block of marble or something.

    1. Crushed under a block of marble. I am always being accused of hiding my light under a bushel.
