..i am an asylum kid as well,my mum escaped from breslau/now wroclaw-poland-my father took her and her mum out with a plane and landet close to lübeck.so we got the luck to be in the west-sektor.
and we got luck that the amis didn´t drop 2 atom bombs here.
and after all ,we got about 50 different types of dog and cat food in tins in supermarkets and we flush our toilets with 8ltr. of clear drinkwater.another fact is ,that privat households throw away about 50% of fresh food.europe has to proof something.an the dublin regulation is stupid in case of the first step on the european continent poor person from syria could put his first step on denmark,or norway,or sweden..i hope for a fair european solution...my thoughts, nice weekend, ttt

  1. Fact: Germany has, so far, taken in 100 times more Syrian refugees than the U.S.A. and the U.K. each. Cameron has U-turned to pledge taking in many more to the U.K. because of the poor man above, but the actual amount is only mentioned as thousands, all from holding camps on the Syrian border. Nothing to do with Calais and economic migrants, before any Colonel Blimps wake up and start to rant.

    1. All very good until the first EU country of entry is Greece, or a little Greek island.

    2. Agreed.
I posted the above for information.
Turkey is overwhelmed it has 2 million refugees in camps & that is not ideal, which is why people are taking to boats. and going to Greece. Greater effort has to be made by the EU don't you think ?

    3. I think they have begun to accept this.

  3. Migrants/Refugees are supposed to ask for asylum in the first European country they reach (as he says above), but this shouldn't then stop them moving to another country of their choice. Once you have right of abode in any European country, you have right of abode in all.

    1. There is the slight problem of Greece not even having the resources to process their own paperwork at the moment, let alone thousands of newcomers, who they are also supposed to feed and shelter before sending them on their way.

  4. This whole situation is heartbreaking and frightening. Germany is on the right side of this, the rest of us are like deer in the headlights. Meanwhile, people are dying.

    1. In little Europe, we get frightened by numbers, especially when they are attached to people. If every town in Britain took 10 families, then that would be a massive contribution toward a temporary solution. If every town in every Northern European country took 10 families each, we could absorb most of Syria without even being aware of their presence in our communities. Bath houses about 90,000 people, and it is one of the smallest cities in Britain.

  5. The Gulf states have no entry signs with an arrow pointing to Europe. Why aren't the refugees storming through the borders of the United Arab Emirates I wonder. Nice hot countries with plenty of jobs and money.

    1. The UAE was never too keen on the 'Arab Spring' which was Syria's downfall, oil has hit an all time low, and Mecca already takes on millions of visitors every year who stay in camps so vast that they make Glastonbury look quite small. The jobs go to single men from the poorer Moslem countries and sleeping rough in 45 degrees C is not too good for children's health.

  6. They asked that man above if he would like to be transported on to Canada where he was originally heading via Europe, but he explained that he was only fleeing his home country for the sake of his wife and children, and didn't care about himself - particularly now that they are all drowned. He has gone back to their village to be close to them in their graves.

On the hard-shoulders of Hungarian motorways, groups of hundreds of families are trudging their way to the German border, but in most cases, the women and children cannot keep up with the men, which is why you see mainly single men at the border points - they are waiting for their families to catch up.

This is about to change, because the Hungarian authorities are now intercepting them on the road with coaches and buses. A little late, but it should make it easier to distinguish between 'economic' migrants and whole families.

    1. The Hungarian public - or some of them - have also had a change of heart, and many locals are going out with food and water for the travelling refugees. At the same time, the more right-wing locals shout obscenities at the women and children as they drive by.

    2. And where the fuck is the Uniter States? Since WW2 the US has been living with the shame of having refused entry to German Jews and others fleeing certain death, in one case actually turning away a ship full of children whose next stop was the camps. You'd think someone would remember, especially since we have been saying "Never again" for 60 years.

    3. I know that the States have a growing desire to help, but there is a hell of a lot more water in the Atlantic than there is in the Mediterranean. Those oceans are measured in millions of cubic miles.

  7. Yes of course, distance matters, but I'm more concerned that the US government has said we would take a mere 1500 Syrian refugees. Canada, on the other hand, plans to bring 10,000 over by the end of the year.
