Air support needed
I look to the South and I see clear skies.
I look to the North and I see a build-up of cloud right where the meteor shower is predicted to emanate from the constellation of Perseus, Persia, Perusal, or wherever the fuck my spell-checker says it is.
For about three years now, our view of this event has been obstructed by cloud.
Now I am not normally one to slag-off God - especially on the Net - but I am rather beginning to think that Chris has got it wrong when it comes to his lack of humour and sensitivity.
Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about any other god than the Anglican one.
I would not dare, unless backed-up by the U.S. Army, and they're not backing-up much right now.

Took the grand kids out to the field last night. It was so clear you could see the Milky Way. After a couple of meteorites, the kids were ready to leave. It was an incredible starry night.
ReplyDeleteI used to correspond with U.S. astronomers, and they all ended their messages with 'clear skies to you', rather than 'best wishes'.
DeleteThere's not a cloud in the sky here.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are advantages to living in the wilderness.
Delete9.22 pm still daylight, the skies are clear, so methinks it will be a couple or more hours yet before we see the shower.
ReplyDelete0200 - 0330 best times to see it Tom, if you can stay awake ???
ReplyDeleteNo chance, but I can guarantee that I will be awake by 5.00am due to local gulls. Living here is exactly like living on a cliff face in Dorset.
DeleteWhen I was about 10, I made a list of all the things that were important to me. Top was seeing the stars, then came owning poultry followed by growing a tree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me to get out there tonight.
How much effort does it take to grow a tree? I mean effort on your part, not the tree's.
DeletePS do you think that if there is a god he reads the net? I bet even He wouldn't be able to keep up with everyone's blogposts.
ReplyDeleteI hope he reads the Dark Net.
DeleteI'd made a mental note to watch the skies last night, only to be greeted by thunder lightning and heavy rain. C'est la vie.
ReplyDeleteThat lightening and rain is just about to hit us.
DeleteLet us hope that the rain all fell on Cro before it gets here! ( sorry Cro x )
DeleteI was quite dry today, so maybe it did.
DeleteDifferent northern gods for the northen skies obviously!
ReplyDeleteYes. Odin has rewarded you for managing to keep out of world politics and the Euro.
DeleteSaw some amazing meteors last night. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were out watching too.
ReplyDeleteBad luck.
DeleteWe watched the shower last night it was impressive.....
ReplyDeleteLots of dark skies in Wales. That's where I bought my giant telescope. Nice.
DeleteThe sky here has been totally clear for the last three nights and I have got up around two thirty and stood looking out of the bedroom window for about a quarter of an hour - seen the sum total of one meteor. Getting back into bed I was grateful the farmer had stayed put - human hot water bottle (one of the reasons I married him twenty two years ago next week).
ReplyDeleteYou must have blinked at all the wrong moments, Weave?
Deletethunder, lightning, and rain storms here, so no stars could be seen. It has cleared off today, so hoping for a glimpse of a star show tonight.
