I'm still having a break - read on...

I have put this blog back up, because I found that I was not being told about certain other bloggers' new posts, and although I don't particularly want to write much myself for a while, I do want to carry on reading yours.

I wanted to put all of my old posts back into 'Drafts', but it seems that unless I do each one individually (over 2000 of them), they will have to stay as they are. You cannot - it seems - 'select all' to put them in a cupboard without destroying them completely, and it would be a crime against the literary world to do this... A bit like Wordsworth's sister, but on a slightly smaller scale.

I couldn't bear to miss the moving of the Hattats into a little hovel in Norwich, because it is shaping up to be as entertaining as Sue Townsend's 'The Queen and I'!

Can't wait until they have to deal with British tradesmen again!

  1. Darling Tom,

A little rest is totally understandable. A blogging break is necessary at times. An interlude makes the followers yearn for more. A gap is so very youthful. An intermission happens in concert halls and theatres, serving to raise the anticipation levels of the Second Act. A holiday, vacation, staycation is vital for recharging the batteries of life.

    But, darling Tom......

To disappear and never to be seen again would be unbearable......we should be lost without your tales of magic, mystery and HI........Bath would simply be Pump Rooms, Jane Austen and baths.......sculpting in stone would be reduced to chips off old blocks........

Who, but us, would write of Iford Manor?

    Darling Tom........are you still there......?!

    1. I never left, it just appeared like that! You left out the foul-mouthed rants from your summing-up of the content here, though. I suppose someone has to make them, and I couldn't bear it if it were you two.

  2. Yes, Tom, when I read your fine thoughts about your blog (I would miss it immensely!), I think of Mrs Councillor Nugent, (a good friend of Hyacinth Bucket), who said: "You have to try to bring a little happiness into people's lives." continuing: "Not too much, mind you, or else they start taking it for granted. Next thing you know they're behaving in a distgusting manner and enjoying excessive romantic behaviour."
No - take your rest, but come back (presto!).

    1. This taking a break is turning out to be quite hard work - enjoyable, though.

  6. I'm just exploiting some of my academic connections to have your blog added to the literary syllabus in three of the major UK universities and their Indian outposts. I hope to not tell you about it and have the royalties channelled directly to myself.

    1. It would be an honour and a privilege for what to me is the work of a moment. I am not worthy. You keep the gratuities.

  10. At any rate you have kept us from descending on your tiny but charming, etc. en masse. Imagine us, reaching from your front door back to the railing of the bridge. Probably not safe.

  13. When you left if felt as if a boyfriend had dumped me. Now my achy breaky heart has come back to life with a stutter. Whew! Don't do that again. Please.

And to our darling Hattatts: Thank you for being unintentional life savers.
