Tony is waking up - yawn

I took this photo from my bedroom window a few years ago. No wonder I wake up in the night howling.

I haven't got the energy for writing anything too banal today, I must have burnt myself out on Alexander McCall-Smith last night. I haven't even got the energy to go to the pub - my cold seems to have come back again. Maybe I am on the receiving-end of a couple of long-distance curses?

I'm looking forward to settling down and listening to The Archers tonight. I don't know what to do with myself on Saturdays. For one minute, I thought they had pulled the brilliant stroke of getting Nigel to return in 'Blithe Spirit', but it was just some bloke who sounded a bit like him.

Some of the residents of Ambridge ought to take up acting as a career. They were brilliant, I thought.

If you don't live in the UK - or maybe even if you do - you will not have a clue about what I am talking about, so don't bother to even think about it.

Good Lord - is that the time? Well no, it isn't actually.

  1. Someone on the radio (not R4) was just saying that The Archers have lost the plot. Not being a listener, I shall now ignore both sides.

    1. Not wising to sound at all UKIP, I notice that the current writer has an extremely exotic name for a Borsetshire resident.

  2. My husband says that The Archers sounds just like Eastenders these days!! I listen on Sunday mornings while doing the ironing.

    1. Have you seen East Enders recently? The last time I saw it was last Christmas, and the air turned blue when about two people were murdered on Christmas day.

A friend of mine turned to a stranger in our pub and asked, "Did you see East Enders last night?". The bloke answered, "I wrote it." It was Ashley Pharaoh, who used to write them.

    2. Next time your friend sees him could he pass on a message from me that I hold him and the other script writers responsible for the decline in behaviour, manners and speech in this country.

  3. Never heard the Archers (and I do live in this country you know) Must say you do sound a bit Christmassed out. Happy New Year to you. Saw shots of Bath Christmas Market on Country File the other week - thought of you - it all looked very jolly.

    1. Well you saw more of the Christmas Market than I did - it was 50% Wales.
