Getting into hot water

To celebrate the return of darling Mise, here is a Life-Style post.

H.I. said she was fed up with our old kettle, and had found a new one with £12 off the RRP, right next door. So we got it.

Out with the old, in with the new, eh?

  1. I call it 'The Shard'. That pisses her off.

    2. My see-through kettle just broke after 5 years of stalwart service and I was eyeing the Kitchen-Aid as replacement - now that Jacqueline has it I'll certainly need to keep up or risk becoming C-list.

    3. Yes, of course I meant the 'Gerkin', but I got them mixed up.

We could have spent £10 on a new kettle, and we could have spent £160, but we compromised at £47 for this one - they are all bloody ugly, but this was the best of a very bad bunch.

  3. Should I start doing Life-Style posts or should I stick to football?

    1. Please do at least one Life-Style, Rachel. I would love to read it. You missed out on a good cookery one with those mushrooms, but I bet you could do a good one on large kitchen knives.

  5. I love The Shard. (Never recoiled of confessing to things I love, but others maybe not.)

  6. I rather like that kettle. I have learned by bitter experience that it is well worth paying a lot more for a kettle than the usual cheap stuff - last time I bought a really expensive one and it has done us proud.

    1. I'll let you know, Weave. I was given the last cheap one by a friend who wanted an expensive one, and we have used it for years without problems. It is still working fine today, although now put into retirement.

  7. Beautiful kettle, but can you get your hand in to clean the
inside? Or, maybe you have such soft water it is not a problem?

    1. No - a baby wouldn't get its hand into this one, and we have the hardest water in Britain. One day I will have to treat it with a de-scaler.

    2. I thought we had the hardest water in Britain. We can't both have it. Whatever, it is also the healthiest.

    3. Is Norfolk surrounded by limestone hills? I don't remember that the last time I was there, but I don't know what your sub-structure is.

    4. Plenty of chalk around here. Probably what does it.

  8. And what will you do with the twelve pounds saved?
