Congratulations

Tony Blair has just won 'Philanthropist of the Year' award.

What a strange world we live in.

    1. Philanthropy, n. Inclination to do or practice of doing good to one's fellow man.

I wonder if GQ confused this with Philanderer?

  2. Does that give a whole new meaning to the word 'philanthropist'?

    1. Tell them to fuck off and mind their own business, then call them back and say they're your best mates.

    2. Why not? I only have all day to rub it in, whereas you work nights too.

    4. Take a straw with your hot water bottle. It's more discreet than slobbering all over the duvet.

  6. I think you'll find its a photo shoot for a Madame Tussauds waxwork for an upcoming exhibit of theirs entitled 'world's biggest joke.'

    1. Yes - he must be the easiest waxwork ever. AND ventriloquist's puppet, if you could ever find someone to shove their hand up his arse and lie through their teeth.

    1. If he has a stamp collection, you should have a Terence Stamp collection - of one.

  10. I would give all my pocket money to have the original newly elected Tony Blair back in power now. Better than this malicious and hateful government most of whom were born to riches and cannot understand or empathise with the majority of the electorate.

    1. You are madder - or more drunk - than I ever suspected you could have been by making a comment like that.

A few left-wing friends of mine have recently been hankering for the resurrection of Margaret Thatcher, when compared to Blair's treatment of the legacy she left behind when ousted from power.

At least she actually believed in what she said, unlike Tony Blair, who milked the system purely in order to feather his own nest, from start to finish.

I hanker after all the really old politicians, even though they were Eton educated, almost to a man. They may have had the blood and bruises of the working classes on their hands, but just take one tiny little peek at what is happening in Iraq right now, and ask yourself who - in the main - is responsible for that. 2 men.

Blair was not elected by the people of G.B., he was elected by The Sun 'newspaper', via Rupert Murdoch. At least real, living idiots voted for Thatcher.

  11. I'm not drunk nor an idiot though I am quite mad about rewritten history. I also voted for Margaret Thatcher and campaigned for the Tory party. Doorstepping in several elections as I believed that they offered a more prosperous and hopeful future. But people have conveniently forgotten some important parts of her legacy. She destroyed the unions who protected the ordinary employed against rapacious uncaring employers. (And Murdoch finished the job for her.) Whereas now individuals have little or no resort to restitution or fair play as even employment tribunals are being strangled through clever lawyers used by deep pocket employers. The Tory government ruined the lives of many people I lived and worked among in the 1980s and early 90s in middle class West London. I can tell you that none of my neighbours or colleagues cared for The Sun and we all supported Blair in 1997. As for the Eton educated politicians of old - hello Suez Crisis. Not to mention a couple of World Wars. Most of the good things about living in the UK (for ordinary people) that we take for granted ( and continually criticise) like the NHS and other aspects of the Welfare state were not instituted by the Tories. Even the old age pension was introduced by the Liberals. In my view the current problems in the middle east are more rooted in historical empire building and arbitrarily imposed borders by former western powers than the more recent "invasion" by their successors. Not that I agreed with that as I specialised in public international law and found the Iraq invasion incompatible with the united nations charter.

Now where were we? Oh yes, Tony Blair. Despicable now but, like Thatcher, not when he first came to power. It's power that goes to their heads - like Thatcher as well because she came from a working class background. But although the Tory government is back to its old composition of Eton & Co, it is strangely emasculated. Cameron is a fool. Blair was never that.

    1. Thanks for dividing that into at least two paragraphs - that's more than Rachel does when she is as pissed out of her head as you are.

  12. And Kim Kardashian was named 'Woman of the Year' by GQ. Someone needs to have a talk with these people.
