    1. Similar to watching out to sea, which is something I fantasise about doing in old age. I think I've left it too late to organise, unless I get put in HMP Portland for some historical sexual offence.

    2. They were words from the Bowie song, Strange fascination. You have to be at least 84 to be accused and locked up for a sex offence so forget that for a while. You might buy a nice retirement bungalow in Torquay with all that money you are earning from your rich client or he might leave you some in his will.

    3. Both scenarios highly unlikely, but being locked up at 84 would solve a few problems.

I said that time may change me

    Beautiful pictures!
And: We have a David Bowie- exhibition in Berlin now - not interested?

    1. No, not interested. Sorry, but His music is ok, but his art is not, in my eyes.

    3. I'm even not just that into his music.

    4. I liked it 35 years ago, but I feel I have moved on.

  4. I know you will answer this question. How do chimney pots work? Each to a separate fireplace or stove?
North, south, east and west, it is a lovely old resort and commerce town. The roof line, at any rate. You have made slightly less favorable reports from the ground, from time to time.

    1. Yes, each pot is a different fireplace, starting with a basement kitchen. They can converge in the side or internal wall, though, so two pots merge from one stack.

And yes, I like to keep my fantasies separate from the Georgian architecture.

    1. Without the Volvo, it would be the end of my world. I am just about to lend the Powell/Pressburger DVD - The Edge of the World (not htier best one) to a friend who has just got back from St Kilda. It's got some good footage of the evacuation.

  6. I really thought you were pulling our leg when you posted that photo the other day - I thought it was some 19 century painting!

    1. The colours are a bit Grand Canal, Venice, aren't they?

    2. Actually, it reminds me of the American chocolate-box painter, Maxfield Parrish. Parrish painted using the old glazing technique, which took months. I have a friend who owns 3 Maxfield Parrish paintings. A rich friend.

  7. Wow, that third picture is my favorite. If you crop out the ugly building on the left you have a masterpiece.

    1. I'd like to crop it completely - it blocks out 98% of what used to be a wonderful view.
