Yet more art, yet more suffering

Someone here (I forget who) introduced me to the glorious art-work of George W Bush the other day, and I was struck by the similarity between Dubblya's magnum opus of Angela Merkel and the brilliant restoration job done on the face of Jesus H Christ by that elderly Italian mad woman.

It is strange, because I get the impression that they both come from such different backgrounds. If the old girl had spent her early years taking drugs, drinking and avoiding confrontational hot-spots by buying her way into the National Guard, then she might be an even better painter than she is now.

I suppose the one thing they have in common is that they both have a lot of time on their hands and are compelled to act to change their world for the better.

  1. Perhaps if I'd taken more drugs and drunk more as a young'un, I'd be the prime minister of Australia by now. (There may a missing premise in there somewhere.)
Releasing this collection of paintings made me wonder if Bush Jr is suffering a condition peculiar to retired American presidents. I guess it is a position that would do anyone's head in.
But must we be gentle? It is really fucking bad art.

    1. He could afford to employ a real painter, but he probably didn't think of that.

  2. His art work reflects his rather distorted view of reality....he seems to be a better painter than he was president though (and I echo Sarah's sentiment above!).

  3. I dunno, I like how he does under the eyes and the neck. No sugarcoating. Better than I could do.

    1. Maybe, but I bet you could run the USA better than he could though.

  6. I fully expect to see some of GWB's superlative work at the RA summer exhibition this year. Unbelievable.

  7. Speaking as a struggling artist this pisses me off. Even the story of the botched restoration but a little less.

    1. Just these stories? I hate the stories where the crap artist makes loads of money more.

    3. When I am a famous and successful artist I will of course fall into the category to which you refer above.xxxx

    4. Well at least you might admit to it, unlike Damien bloody Hirst or Tracey bloody Emin.

    5. You might not be, and thousands of others could say the same thing. I might not know what I like, but I know something about art.

    6. I meant I wouldn't admit it.

    7. Oh yes, I took that for granted. Neither would I.

  9. Angela almost looks kind. That is an unusual look for her. I heard that she has toe hair.

    1. What's 'toe hair'? Do you mean hair on her toes? If so, is it so extreme that she has the reputation of Hobbit blood?

    2. There is no need for an apostrophe before the t.

    3. This machine has two keys for the same mark. One is an apostrophe and the other is for the use of single parenthesise only.

Sorry, I must have hit the wrong one, but well spotted and thanks for pointing it out.

    4. I proudly shave my toe hair.

  10. I just thought that it's interesting what kind of information is floating around out there about political leaders. I have not personally seen her toes or the hair on it. I am all for removal of it, though. The hair. Not the toes.

  11. I almost recovered from flu - so I throw a watery look at your 'art' - - makes me long for the disgusting taste of the Chinese Medicine my doctor (the cruel one) precribed - a tea that makes you think three times a day whether it is not more amusing to stay sick, or die before another -errgs,berrghs - sip.

    1. I gulped the 's' in prescription, but my apostrophes work.

    2. Two apostrophes on one later? How extravagant.
