Local hero

UKIP leader, Nigel Farage, turned up at The Bell in Bath this afternoon, and was politely told that he was not to film inside - BBC or not - so he went outside.

Clink on the link below to see one customer's critique of his election campaign.  Everyone I know wants to buy him a drink - Gary, not Nigel.

  1. I saw him in Bath on the lunchtime news and thought, ' That's The Bell ' …… I recognised the colour of the paintwork !! ….. I was looking out for you but, it was obviously too early { I know that you were hard at work at the time and looking after your baby robins !! } XXXX

    1. I'm still analysing the results from the last post.

  3. I just googled Nigel Farage's website to see if the video clip is on there. It says "Welcome to my website" but it hasn't been updated since the week before Christmas.
Typical blatherer by the look of it. Every village has one.

  4. Seems to me Tom (see Jacqueline's comment above) you were much better employed looking after those baby robins. This chap's all talk methinks. Looks as though he is going to try to get into Parliament now that the Tory chap has resigned his seat. I always turn the sound down when he appears on the news - it works wonders.

    1. He slept on it - in Bath - and says he is not standing for Newark now. Shame, he would have lost anyway.

  5. That reminds me: where is Jim Froggart?

  6. It would have been great to see him crash and burn in Newark but never mind - Gary has potted the whole thing perfectly.

    1. Gary has - as I write - now raised about £200 for charity, having been invited out last night by complete strangers. He is now nationally known as 'Wanker-Man'.

    2. Update - the figure is now closer to £700 and he's going to spend it all on beer.

  7. I note that the anti-Ukip campaign is led by Barbara Roche who was behind Labour's "open-door" mass immigration policy. Her voice will no doubt help Ukip.

    1. That rings a bell - no pun intended. UKIP are regularly and entertainingly let down by quite a few utter loonies who slip through their wide-holed net, so defectors are hardly noticed, I think.

    2. P.S. There are - as I have always suspected - more Brits living in Europe than their are Europeans living in Britain. Cro and the Hattatts are but three, without the extended families, or Mad Boys who were not born in Blighty.

    3. Undeniably Ukip has its nutters. There are nutters everywhere in every party. They are not thin on the ground. But Ukip views about immigration are shared by those who would not regard themselves as racist.

    4. This is an argument which is fully understood by anyone who can either read, or understand the English language when spoken. In fact it is even understood by people who cannot do either.

The big danger is - and I would emphasise the word 'danger' - that UKIP's arguments are far more likely to be accepted during times of financial crisis. Why do you think that is?

    5. It doesn't make any difference.

  8. Ah ha ha. Brilliant Gary.

... and the KKK's arguments were far more likely to be accepted during hard times, as well. Just look at the economic and social history behind every one of their uprisings. Social change, some immigrants and a bit of a depression does a perfect far right movement make.

    1. I wasn't going to mention 1938, but since you - almost - bring it up...

  9. Did not, Tom.
Plenty of Aussies have been using the 'N' word lately to describe our punitive border protection policy, but I believe it devalues that original act of mass homocide. Maybe, like you, I should just not talk about the war.

  10. Okay so I did.
(And allow me to correct 'homicide' too please.)

    1. It would have been, if I had been there at the time. Gary now has over £500 in his beer fund.
