Thou shalt not never not nohow

My mobile phone has just rang, and the caller asked me the question I have been dreading hearing since I first saw the two, massive marble sculptures (2.5 tons each), made to order in Italy, sitting in storage with everyone casting them sideways glances as they walk past, openly wondering how the hell they are going to be moved into place with nothing but a handful of men and the best will in the world.

"Morning Tom. Everyone is waiting for your advice before we put those two huge figures into place, as we thought that you might have done it before. Can you come here today while we have the man-power?"

'You don't have the manpower', I thought. 'Cecil B. Demille didn't have the manpower in his most Biblical of epic films.'

"I'll be up in about an hour," I actually said.

This should make for a good post tomorrow. It might even include some spectacular deaths, like many of Cecil B. Demille's films.

  1. And don't forget the movie camera, nurse, and plasters.

  2. Might a few helium balloons attached to each statue take the weight off ?

  3. And if we don't hear from you are we supposed to imagine you squashed flat on the road somewhere?

  4. Hope that all went well and that you trusted your hopes and not your fears.

  6. I am now worried by the bad weather in the USA. A friend sent me this email tonight:

"Just got off the phone with a friend who lives in Northern Tip of Newfoundland. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling.

The temperature is dropping way below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare.

He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in."

  7. "We have a plan." Words of confidence!

The other day I read a post on another blog that was titled: "No one got squished." I hope that you can say the same tomorrow. But, hell, you've got a plan, right? Right?

    1. The main news will not unravel for a week or two, and hopefully it will be so uneventful that it will not be worth posting about. That's the best scenario.
