Any old excuse

What with the meteor explosion over Russia, the lightening strike on the Vatican and the asteroid which is going to skim about 10 feet above our rooftops tonight, you could almost be forgiven for thinking that God is trying to tell us something. If only he weren't so bloody mysterious, we might be able to understand what it is.

I got into mildly severe trouble with Green-Eyes yesterday, as this is the second, consecutive time in her 18 years that I have not given her a Valentine's card. She started sending me texts at about 11.00 a.m. beginning with a declaration of her undying love for me, to which I responded in kind. The next few texts became increasingly pushy, and the last one stated that if I did not get her a card, she would never forgive me.

She arranged to meet me in the pub at 5.00, and when I turned up, pretty much her first word was, "Well?"

The trouble is that she has come to take them for granted, and because they have all been hand-made in the past, she doesn't understand that all my creative energy (i.e. displacement activity) currently goes into writing this stupid blog these mornings. I simply cannot spend valuable time drawing red hearts onto cardboard and then burn myself out on the computer before going to the workshop and being brilliantly creative there as well. She continued talking to me for the next hour anyway, so no long-term harm done it seems.

This whole post is just another excuse to put up the eyes for a second time, and now I am going off to be brilliantly creative somewhere else. I still didn't get where I am today, and it's friday already.

  1. Oh all right, it was a boring post, but I'm still leaving it up - just for the eyes.

  2. Your beautiful green-eyed girl can wrap you around her little finger. I bet the drinks were on you.

    1. True, but since she works at the pub, she is allowed two drinks free of an evening, so in this case, I didn't.

  3. Today is St Julienne's Day (here anyway), so would a St Julienne's Day card help instead?
