Unsuitable for bathing...

This phone's video is really crappy, so I had better read the sign out that says, "Unsuitable for bathing, swimming and...."

More rain on the way tonight.

  1. Oh my goodness Tom...... it's a bit scary . We were meant to go to The Cotswolds yesterday but had to cancel as many of the roads were flooded. Hope it doesn't get any worse for you and look after yourselves. XXXX

  2. Plenty of water further SW as well, and I can report it has just started again. Rain smashing against my window as I write.

  4. Scary pictures, Tom. Best of luck to you all. So far Southport's been on the edge of the really bad stuff.

  5. Why do you often delete your earlier posts? Very confusing. Particularly to those who've had a mere soupçon of the fermented fruit of the vine.

Luckily Salisbury is coping well with the downpour. Despite three or five (I can never remember) rivers running through. And a high water table with the Cathedral floating on gravel surrounded by water meadows. Maybe the medieval 'canals' under the roads help. Who knows. So far so good. But we keep all valuables off the ground just in case.

    1. Yes, the whole history of ecclesiastical Salisbury has been to do with water management.

I delete the posts when they go sour, and they go sour for a variety of reasons. When they get too personal is one reason, and the last one got too personal for a few reasons.

I had a big dispute about with someone about whether or not I could claim the bell as my own work, since my glamorous assistant made most of it, to my design. Short of giving a lecture about when a piece of sculpture can be attributed as one's own and when it cannot (which I delivered in a shouty voice to the bloke in the pub itself), I decided that I would opt out of the discussion until I had calmed down.

Also, a fellow blogger took the opportunity to have another kick at me for admitting an embarrassing faux pas in the past (again) and I was really not in the frame of mind to be kicked whilst I was down once more.

I will re-do the Bell post when I have better photos, in any case.

  7. Thanks for explaining why you sometimes delete posts. They show up in my reading list, and sound interesting, but i click to read more, and they no longer exist.

I hope you've got a boat handy with all that rain you're getting!
