Another picture that could win the 'Crappest Photo' category in blogtopia, but - like a lot of these posts - it's the words that I am interested in.
It is a memorial (1660) in the church near where
H.I.'s Summer School is taking place, ending with the line,
"... bubble earth, farewell."
I might start using that term myself - it sums it all up, really.
It begins with,
"Laugh not, fanatics..."
It sounds absolutely wonderful. Any chance of a full transcription?
ReplyDeleteOk.
Delete"Bubble earth, farewell." certainly beats "See ya later!".
ReplyDeletem.
I wish I could read its entirety, sadly I cannot. Bulle terre, adieu!
ReplyDeleteTom, could you provide the entire epitaph? I can make out some but not all of it.
ReplyDeleteWill do.
DeleteLove that. Will start saying it to my grown kids. Will make it even easier to put me in the nursing home when it's time
ReplyDeleteA good find...wish we could read the rest..
ReplyDeletePlease put the whole epitaph up...I've tried all ways but cannot read it and if the middle is anything like as good as the beginning and end it would make great reading.
ReplyDeleteI too would love to read it all - I love the idea of bubble earth - seems that folk felt just the same about things all those years ago.
ReplyDeleteOK, everyone - I will transcribe it in full tomorrow. XXX
ReplyDeleteoh goody!
ReplyDeleteDid you REALLY mean that, Jonathan...? KFC, indeed. Tsk tsk.
Deletetee hee
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about Adam's pole-dancing mullarky in Ambridge? When is Chris going to Broadstairs? (no connection... tee hee...)
Deleteadam's a tit..... he's more boring than shula and that's saying something!
ReplyDeleteWho's writing the scripts these days? It's all about sex or criminality, and every single resident of the village who is not a goody-goody is a complete cunt.
