Do NOT rest in peace, Gore Vidal!

Ok, I know he was a completely and utterly boring, self-obsessed pain-in-the arse, but anyone who can describe the American Republican Party as a 'bunch of fascists' would have got my vote, if he had run for the job which saw Kennedy assassinated by one of the Mafia who he named, and if he had run at all in the first, second or third place - and if I had the vote over the pond as well.

Being a completely, utterly boring and self-obsessed person myself, I could identify with him.  The only difference being that a little part of me always dies when I hear of the success of a complete stranger.

    1. That's VERY true, Johnny. His poet-brother was killed in WW1 as well - did you know that?

    1. I always wondered how he survived being gored by that bull.

    2. My God - what a talented, royal and tragic family. It seems like only yesterday since I was sitting on his knee, discussing politics and the beat poets.

Tomorrow, I drive past his tragic (and gay) brother's house on the outskirts of Hungerford - King Seigfreid - who invented a type of battery which last for 2 days less than any others.

  4. Oh,and, if you go into Hungerford, there is a café called the Tutti Pole where once we saw a man whose pate seemed to have been flattened and we wondered where his brain might be lodged...do report.

    1. We won't be stopping in Hungerford, so I doubt if I will be able to look out for someone eating flattened pate (on toast?) in a cafe with another odd name - Tutti Pole?!
