Result.

This is what I ended up buying today - I've reverted back to the old 850, and I am extremely pleased with it.

It drives like a dream, is immaculately clean - inside and out - has reasonably low mileage for it's age, and a higher spec than my old one.  It was top of the range in it's day, and everything works.  It even has parking sensors on it.

The very kind man who gave me a lift to where it used to live, eyed me up from the rear (steady) all the way home, and later said he wondered why he spent 10 times as much on his Honda poeple-carrier than I had on this.

Under a grand! - if it lasts me as long as the other, than I am a happy man.  I thought I would let you know, as I know you were all worrying.

    1. Get the right one, and you will never regret it (touching wood furiously now...)

    1. It's usually a sticky Rs syndrome, isn't it? It's blue, which - I hope - is the worst of it's faults. At least I cannot see the colour from the inside. It has a black steering wheel. I hate pale blue steering wheels.

    3. It is actually fitted with a cage to stop pigs from climbing over and attacking you in the driver's seat. I am removing it. If you get a Volvo 850, I'll give it to you for a few rashers of bacon.

  3. I can sleep soundly tonight, knowing that you are, once again, ' with car'......and, I too, like the colour ( much more suited to an Armani man than the turquoisy one).

    1. My sentiments exactly, Jack@. It is tasteful enough not to be too noticeable - like an Armani suit. A good suit is anonymous to all but those who notice it.

  4. So, did you wear the suit when you went to pick up the car??

    glad you have new wheels.

    1. I used to have a Volvo which was BRIGHT orange. That one didn't blend in nicely with the surroundings like this blue one does.
