How was my day and night in Dorset, I hear you ask?
Not enough of this...
.... a bit too much of this...
.... but at least I got to photograph the pear-tree surround, now that it has been plastered into the wall. Any excuse. At least I know not to visit West Bay again in a hurry.
Yes, the beach is the best thing. It is part of what is known as the 'Jurassic Coast' of G.B., and stretches for about 28 miles along the south western edge. I'm very pleased you like the work too, thanks. How's your new home?
That surround is exquisite - you often hide your light under a bushel Tom but not this time. Your going to Dorset (ie the seaside) is probably the reason why it is chucking it down with rain today. Three find days and then a pouring wet one and I was imagining you sitting on the beach under an umbrella.
I ALWAYS hide my light under a bushell, but I'm sure you know that already. Thanks for the kind words. I was lying under that cliff in the relative warmth, 5 minutes before I took the pic. Then it TIPPED down, and is still tipping.
That stretch of muddy stone - unlike the Lias at Lyme (Regis) - is remarkably uninhabited. I saw one Belemnite sticking half out of the lower cliff, and that's it. I t must have been a Jurasically elite area, unlike Lyme and Charmouth, where you practically trip over all sorts of wild life.
10/10? Too kind. What I like about it is that it fits in nicely. It would be a disaster for something that size in a small room not to! Phew... relief.
Oh, the surround looks sooo good! I envy you for your talent. To create something is one of the most rewarding things, and you certainly know what you are doing.
Nice of you to say so, Broad. I wish I had a house which could take such a surround - I could live with it myself, even though I usually like to wave goodbye to all the other objects I make.
The pear-tree surround is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteThat mean a lot to me, thanks Mise.
DeleteThat surround is the best thing in West Bay.
ReplyDeleteAnd that means a lot to me too. Thanks Cher.
DeleteOh, and - by the way - the surround is about 8 miles inland, away from the fish and chips...
DeleteThat beach looks amazing. As does your work!
ReplyDeletem.

DeleteTom your work (art) is stunning. I would have nipped out to that beach at least once.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to get embarrassed now (he lied). Let's hope all those designers think the same thing! Thanks, Olive.
DeleteSimply stunning.
ReplyDeleteThank you J.
DeleteThe surround is beautiful Tom. Sorry to add to your embarrassment (not really!) The cliff looks pretty spectacular too.
ReplyDeleteYes, the cliff was good, though lacked artifice.
DeleteI was going to ask if you saw any fossils?

Good job Tom. Now that it's all plastered, it really presents itself well. 10/10.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few old fossils around here too; but that's enough about me and Lady M.....boom boom!

ReplyDeleteSometimes I know what I am doing, others I just do it anyway. This is why I am carefully monitored by the authorities.
DeleteThat is so beautiful it takes my breath away. Very lucky people to have something so magnificent in the house. Your work is stunning...

Deleteit might have gone all pear-shaped, but it's lovely, Tom.
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks. I made that joke too, but he didn't get it.
