Blood

One thing I love about this blogging business is the diversity of people I meet.

There is no such thing as a true Englishman - I, for instance, am a mixture of Norse, Flemish and Eastern European Jewish, but am quite often mistaken for that bad-tempered old Irish priest in the British T.V. comedy series.

I am so pleased that my 'readers' include so many others with African, Chinese, Tahitian, Celtic, American Indian and - for all I know - Maori blood in them, most of it purer than mine.

So from one crazy mixed-up kid to another, I wish you a very happy St. George's day from Jolly Old England.

(I have to leave the house early in the morning, hence this post tonight).

  8. Happy St George's Day to you, too, Tom!

A Yank, but as you know, nearly all of us came from someplace else--in my case, most of my relations came from Wales and a few from England. There may be one or two who hailed from Scotland, but that might just be hearsay.

  9. Well, I'm all Kraut. Couldn't we Germans have chosen a more flattering vegetable as our favorite dish? Happy St. George's Day!

  10. Hope you had a marvelous St. George's Day, Tom. I'm a Connecticut Yankee with ancestors from England, Wales, Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany -- but who knows from whence all of them came. The latest studies of genetics have made some very interesting discoveries most of which conclude that most of us have very mixed beginnings!

  11. I think the 23rd also happens to be Adolph Hitler's birthday, but I could be wrong, and you know what lying bastards contribute to Wikipedia.
