Gawd bless 'er

Overheard conversation in the street today, as a well-spoken man loaded recently bought goods into the boot of his car:

"I knew that pop-music had arrived when I heard someone say to Princess Margaret, 'See you later, alligator..." (and has he closed it), "...and she answered, 'In a while, crocodile."

I think this has to have been a lottery-funded Silver Jubilee piece of street-theatre, and is probably taking place in towns and cities all over Britain right now.
