Before

Because of all the confusion about the last post I put up (and took down) which showed the writer Jeffrey Bernard in two stages of life (which everyone thought was me...) I thought I would put this one up, which is a rare photo of me aged about 30, sitting in a cafe bar in suitably dim lighting. Much more suitable.

This simple task has taken me about a fucking hour, because the computer's scanner system doesn't recognise the old scanner, but I had to carry on, having started. Streuth.

You can have the 'after' courtesy of The Tweed Pig - maybe.

  1. Now I reckon I was decorative enough - I would have given myself one. Those were the days.

    1. That was the summer, Grouch. I still wear T-shirts in the summer, but I reckon I reached the winter tweed age about 15 years ago. I know you don't approve of posting up pictures of yourself, but I am just trying to work out where it all went wrong. I think the beer and cigarettes are a clue...

    2. I've just noticed an interesting historical detail - both of us smokers have a box of matches. In those days, gas lighters were taxed so highly, that they cost the equivalent of about £10. Now they are cheaper than most matches.

    1. Oh you found it, Chris? It was created because I kept having to copy different images that disappeared from my scanner having been cropped - it was more out of frustration than low self-esteem.

    4. Let me explain - I kept editing and scrapping the last pic, and everytime I tried to put it on the desktop, the machine kept asking me to retitle it or change the existing... never mind.

    1. Sounds very Australian, eh? 'God's truth' is a bit too long-winded.
