The Ring-Tones

The bloke playing the banjo is the one who created the ring tone in my previous post, and the other two I was drinking with in my local (The Bell, Bath) only tonight. I forget how much talent I am surrounded by, but I still get irritated when they tap their fingers on the bar when I'm trying to drink.

Leon - as I have already mentioned - is a world-class banjo player; Jamie (the Ostler at the Bell) is a harmonica player of the same calibre, and good old Dominic isn't a bad guitar player either. I should be more nice to them in the future... but then again, do they care about how good I am at my job? I think not.

  2. Fair does to Leon & Jamie, Tom, like you say, first class players, but give me sculptures and candlesticks any day - a lot easier to live with.

  3. You can find much more of them on You Tube, Janet. I try not to encourage them myself. I f you must, look up: 'Daily Planet', Jamie Matthews, Leon Hunt, and you will find loads more, including some live performances at my pub, as well as the rest of the world. They are GOOD!

If you want more modern music, then look up 'The Duckworths' - Lawrie Duckworth was the man serving me my beer tonight. Van Morrison has played at The Bell (the ginger Irish bastard), but there again, so has Acker Bilk.

  4. Me too Moll - the only way I can tolerate this lot is to drink beer, and even then it's hard.

  6. Yes - look up 'Daily Planet', or 'Leon Hunt' and there will be plenty to choose from, MBJ.

  7. Up until a few months ago, when I got a new phone, my ring tone was Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. After that, I was really ready for T-Mobile's generic tone.

  8. Did the Pavarotti ring tone get louder and fatter until he burst, Tess? I think that's what happened in real life. You know how it is when you give an inflatable sex-toy a love-bite, and it farts it's way out of the window?

  9. Talented guy. He's so relaxed with it too, like he's played a million times and there's nothing to it. Playing banjo like that is incredibly hard, I'm impressed.

  10. Simon 'Mr Watercolour' Fletcher plays a mean bango; he's also an excellent blues guitarist. I once saw Lonnie Donegan (yes him) warming up for Van M, he was amazingly good. I've even seen Acker Bilk live (no comment).

Your mates are top-notch, I'd go to see them any day.

  14. If you enjoy this sort of thing Tom go to my son, Dominic's site (see my side bar) and then click on his Jazz Trio (Trio Gitan) to hear some good jazz.

  15. Sorry, I should have mentioned, Weaver - I hate jazz. I don't even like this Bluegrass stuff, or whatever it is.
