Shadows

Raz's latest photo challenge is 'Shadows'.

How strange that I should notice this shadow on the wall tonight, caused by an alien looking out of the window of it's spacecraft as Her Indoors removed her make up by the kitchen table.

No, she didn't believe me either, and quickly worked out that it was the reflection of her mirror, catching the profile of an open bottle lid, cast against the wall.

This sunday, we are going to Rode to eat fresh owl - or defrosted owl, in any case.

  1. Oh my gosh. I had no idea one could eat owl! I MUST know what it tastes like - please don't say chicken. Because you have said THAT, I now tend to believe the whole alien thing about this shadow picture. We Floridians believe almost anything! Ann

  2. Maybe it is the shadow of one of your neighbours trying to sneak a shot of you and HI with their new Olympius camera.

  3. Very interesting shadow.

Why is it that 'foreign' meats are always described as tasting like chicken?

  4. That sounds like a real hoot. I roasted a chicken last weekend... it tasted just like owl.

  5. There is a true story of a man who was had up in Scotland for shooting an Eagle recently. The judge asked him why he had shot the Eagle, and he replied that he saw the bird against the bright sky, and - in silhouette - mistook it for legal game, then, in the heat of the moment, pulled the trigger on his gun. The judge then asked him what he did with the dead bird, and the man said that he ate it. The judge then took him by surprise by asking what Eagle tastes like, and the man replied: "A bit like Swan".

  6. You'd need a very big roasting pan...

  7. At least you did not say it was the shadow of HI. You could eat the Great Horned Owl in my yard, that is after my cat, but it would be against the law.

  8. I've eaten Swan, Sue (killed itself on power-lines), and I can say it tastes like river-bed, not chicken. We needed a huge roasting pan. That was 2 Christmases ago.

  9. I've got to ask, What's the swan story. Your at someone's house, a swan hits a power line and goes down and you guys say, "hey lets pluck it and eat it". Do tell. My friends would call 911.

  10. I was on a walk and got a text message from a friend saying that he had found a dead swan under power lines (broken neck through collision, not electrocuted) so I suggested Christmas dinner. About 6 of us ate it after he spent a few hours cooking it. He is a vegetarian who sometimes eats road-kill.
