More pics of pics

Some of the drawings below, before framing. I took a load of pictures like this as an instant record of what had been sent to the framer, but it shows the Velasquez much better than the one below.

Jacqueline has asked for more pictures, so here they are. Sorry they are crappy and unedited, but you get the idea. When we saw a rainbow over the sea in Cornwall, H.I. said she was going to paint it, and I thought 'uh-oh', but I couldn't believe how rainbow-like it was. It is incredibly difficult to make a painting of a rainbow that doesn't look crappy, but she has managed to capture it perfectly.

All these are studies from the masters, done in pencil on paper. Click on the image to enlarge.

Some small ones downstairs.

  1. I remember you taking and posting that rainbow picture when you came back from Cornwall, Tom. Your Jackie has done a brilliant painting of it! Thank you so much for putting the pictures up for us to see.Would have loved to have been there, but this is the next best thing!

  2. I think the framing choice was excellent. It really lets the pieces take centre stage. I much prefer a simple frame. Nice job. Art and framing.

  3. Yes, I thought you would recognise the rainbow, Moll.

The framers were brilliant - a really sensitive and helpful young bloke, who gave us a really good deal (still £2000 worth, though!)

  7. Thanks again for those kind words - H.I. is very heartened by them. My life has been pretty much taken over by this exhibition right now (as you can tell by my quietness on the blogging front) and it will stay that way until the end of next week. I didn't know how tiring it all was - that and trying to sort out the future of my slightly errant grandson. I removed the last post about that on my other blog, because it is an on-going situation, and needed to be upgraded on a daily basis, but thanks for all your advice (which I wiped out when I deleted the post...)
