Venice - Birmingham of the South

A few years ago, we went to the fabulous city of Venice, stayed in a Palazzo, visited all of the art galleries and churches that are packed with the most fabulous art treasures, and what was the only memento we came back with? This pair of underpants shown above, with Her Indoors modeling them. The photo was taken in the Palazzo Zenobio, which is where Casanova used to live and which is also home to some spectacular rococo ceilings and sculpture, and is owned and run by Armenian monks.

You can take the girl out of Sheffield, but you cannot take Sheffield out of the girl...

  1. Dammit. I was just saying yesterday that someone should design swimming costumes like that (for the Torremolinos lager-lout market). But someone's beaten me to it! Love it. Damn.

  2. These are the up-market version - it's David's bits on the pants (Michelangelo's). Maybe you could do some with Wayne Rooney's?

  3. How did Her Indoors feel about modelling them? I imagine it felt rather strange.

  4. Isn't that what a wet Speedo looks like anyway???

  5. She didn't know how well they fitted, Cro - I was on the camera!

Re Speedos, you tell me, Raz! Maybe people just PRETEND that they're wearing Speedos?

  6. This might inspire another stone story (yawn). Having been involved in carving a number of over life-sized, classical figures in Lapine stone, I can tell you exactly why many ancient, classical, adult males were given child sized genitalia. I know, you know.

    Interested?
