Hit Me

Not a very tasteful post, this one, but you know me - I can't resist a good image.

In the comments for the post below, I mentioned that some of the practices of rogue priests in the news right now, are symptoms of an underlying mental health problem. Well, that reminded me of a bit of medical research carried out a few years ago, which went a long way in helping me understand the whole S & M thing, and how people can derive pleasure or comfort from inflicting pain on each other - something hitherto unthinkable for me.

It seems that every one of the Sado-Masochistic case-studies tested by medics had one thing in common - Mild, frontal-lobe brain-damage.

This brain-damage is so slight, that it would never be found if you were not looking for it, and could have been caused by any number of things during childhood, such as a brief viral infection, or a fall from a swing.

Interesting, eh?
