No eagles

I - like John - have no news either, but I thought I'd show you the view from our kitchen window (if you crane your neck) of five minutes ago.

This is Solsbury Hill - the Iron Age hill-fort made famous by Peter Gabriel, another Bath resident.

What a bloody wonderful Summer we are having.

I said 'no eagles', but then I noticed a dot in the sky about three miles away, mid-right in the photo, which I have cropped to the above.

Nah, It's a Buzzard... I think.

  2. Peter Gabriel lives in Bath?! Have you met him?

    That is a wonderful vista.

There is only one 'e' in lens.

    1. There used to be two 'e's in lens when I was a kid, and I can't get out of the habit of using it, despite what my American spell-checker tells me.

Yes, I once spent an afternoon with P.G. and mutual friends, sitting in a tea-garden and chatting about my work. He asked me about it, so I responded. It took me about an hour to work out who he was, and I almost asked him what he did for a job.

  3. Looks suspiciously like a hole, to me. I hope no one has pulled the plug on the beautiful summer.
Killjoy moment has passed; it's a great photo.

    1. I thought it was a speck of dirt on the screen until I looked closer. It was a 'Blow-up' moment, but without the murder. (John Gray will know what I am talking about).

  4. A group of fanatical bird watchers were staying with friends recently and ticking-off in their little book all the birds they'd seen. My friend noticed that they'd ticked against Golden Eagle, but there ain't none here, it must have been a Buzzard too (of which we have scores).

    1. Red Kites are slowly making their way back to Bath - one was spotted about 8 miles out of town this year. They are even bigger than Buzzards.
