Cerne Abbas

There is a pretty little village in Dorset called Cerne Abbas, which is home to a few hundred Christian souls, as well as this fine pagan fellow above, who towers hundreds of feet above them, and has done for a few thousand years.

Cro Magnon has put up a post on the Long Man of Wilmington and I said I would post this picture up, for the sake of anyone who has not already seen him - either in the flesh or on the web. Cro is welcoming any theories regarding the Long Man, but I think the Giant needs no explanation. Sometimes things are exactly as they seem.

Handsome, isn't he?

  3. There's a bad joke available here, about the reasons why women are so bad at parking cars - but I am not going down that route.

  4. I remember when living in England on drives up from the South to London to visit my grandparents, we kids in the back seat would wait anxiously for the sight of the white sand horse on the hillside. I was always excited to see this horse and never really knew why it was there or what it meant...it didn't seem to matter...I just knew it was the largest thing I had ever seen....thanks for reminding me of it.

  5. You are welcome, Victoria. Thanks for commenting. I live in the heart of 'White Horse' country here in the south, but I try and stay excited about it all - not difficult really.
