Trying not to be a dick in public

Mel has suggested that I start a fashion blog for the older model. Here is H.I. in such a fashion shoot, and I think you will agree that she would make a much better model than I would, mainly because all of her clothes are bought straight from either the  (black) label outlet itself, or from the optimistic buyer who liked to think she was about 4 sizes smaller than she actually was, and only squeezed herself into it once before putting it on Ebay and losing 95% of the purchase price.

Today is H.I.'s birthday - hurrah! - and she is another year into her short-lived career as an older model. I have been instructed to cook a roast dinner today for all the family - 75% of the females being fashion-victims too, but they would never admit to it.

I am very choosy about what I wear, but you would not know it by looking at me. It is what I like to think of as 'understatement', because having my hair and 6' 3" frame, I would not make a good spy.

That old bloke that Jack@ featured standing at a train station recently would have made a good private dick, were it not for his dress sense. He has obviously decided on a late career as a public dick.

As I have often said (John), I favour the classic period Armani, because it costs a lot of money to look like a relaxed tramp these days, but - try as I might - I will never blend into the background.

    1. I've had a lot of good stuff from places like Oxfam. Brand-new, Jermyb Street shirts for £1, for instance. I am wearing an Armani one now.

    2. A lot depends on the hinterland of the charity shop.

    3. Yes - Westminster charity shops have good stuff - at three time the price of Norton St Phillip.

  2. HI looks stunning - it doesn't look like she will be blending into the background either. I like only designer clothes and achieve a scruffy look but, as you say, that can cost a lot of money

    1. H.I. saves money by not having grown fat (not that I am accusing you of that), so can usually get into the things which others have to leave on the rails in the sales. I don't know how she hasn't grown fat, because she eats a lot more than I do.

  3. May I ask, what do the initials H.I. stand for? She looks fabulous in those pictures. -Jenn

    1. This is her website:
      jackieharding.com.
She is not indoors to much, unless it is for painting.

  5. Happy Birthday to H.I.! She looks gorgeous, in real life too, I can verify that.
I am an Armani fan too - it fits me and, as I said in an essay on fashion, "real elegance is always comfortable too"

    1. Oh thank you Moll. I know how hard things must be for you now, and we really feel for you. If you are ever in the Bath area, it would be lovely to cement our freindship by meeting up. How about it?

  13. I suppose one model in the family would be enough (or not?). H.I. is stunning and won't be surprised to see much more of her. Happy Birthday, H.I.!

You two together must turn heads when you go out. But it would be a treat to see the man behind the blog!
