Mystery object number two

Now this really is a mystery object, and I am not sure that I will ever find out what it is/was.

It is on an adjacent flat roof to our kitchen, so without ladders I will not be able to get up close and inspect it. I believe it must have been picked up by a gull and dropped there - this is the sort of thing that they do when not screaming their bloody heads off from dawn till dusk.

It is only about 5 or 6 inches high, and when I saw it I noticed something strange about it, so I got a pair of binoculars. Still not being able to see it properly, I got a zoom lense camera and took this photo - I'm still no wiser.

All I can say is that it is something greenish and organic, wrapped in two different sizes of netting, and I do not know if the netting is wire or cord. If it were not for the two different sizes of net, I would have said that it is one of those meshes that stop birds from nesting in pipes which is clogged with plant matter.

It reminds me of a Budhist monk who has been meditating on the ocean floor for a number of years, then halled to the surface by two competing fishermen.

Then maybe it is an exiled alien, dropped onto planet Earth for some misdemeanor in another world?

    1. Could be. A dog recently found a human foot close to the hospital here, and they still haven't identified it.

    2. They should take it to the RSPCA.

    3. You know, I didn't get that for about 30 seconds. 2/10.

  2. I think you've found the answer yourself. It's a bit of crumpled netting with some green stuff inside; often used as a bird scarer on flat rooftops.

  3. There's a good guess, and it's out there yet.

  4. It is some noxious-smelling substance which the owners of the said flat put out on the roof so that it didn't make their whole flat smell. Now they have forgotten about it.

    1. Don't you now fondly think back to the time when posts were about candlesticks? We did not know how good we had it then. ( wink wink )
