Unscrambling eggs

This title was inspired by John's reaction on his latest post.

On Monday, the leaders of the remaining 27 countries are going to get together in a locked room to decide the best way of punishing Britain without harming themselves any more than we did last night.

I did not think that I would be so depressed about this outcome, should it happen, but I had an image just now which makes more sense of it all than anything else right now.

The general atmosphere in Britain this morning now reminds me of a child who kills another living  creature for no better reason than to see what it feels like, then is filled with remorse for his deed which cannot be undone.

  1. It's been business as usual in this office. 75 people and no change from how we all were yesterday. Perhaps you have had too much time on your hands today to think too much about it. It is not the end of the world.

  2. My parents used to have a picture on their wall, done in poker work. It said "Think before you ink." Useful words for yesterday me thinks - but too late now. We shall all have to suffer the outcome.

  3. For some reason I keep thinking of the Bob Marley tune, Want More. Valley of Decision and so forth.

I will try to buy some British pounds today. The current dollar price is just a few cents cheaper than it was in February when I last purchased some pounds.

    Best wishes.

    3. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to spend these pound over there by year's end. It can be dangerous over here, too, but let's embrace life and leave the door open to optimism.

      Best wishes.

  4. We will have Trump and Boris trying to recreate something that never was .I am not sure people actually gave thought how this vote would impact Globally. Here in Canada the markets tanked .Fear of people different from ourselves is not a reason to make rash decisions, this vote is not good for our young people, and it is a sad day for the UK.

    1. I'm still just about to send £13,000 US to Canada though. That should keep the problem at bay for a few months.

  6. Never mind - if the going gets really tough they can ask Trump to take us on as a 52nd, 53rd (can't remember how many they've already got) State? Now won't that be nice?

    1. 50 states and several territories. If each country in the UK is counted then there undoubtedly would be discussion as to which country first and how to rearrange the stars in the canton. You know, Big Things to take our minds off other items like how to deal with a new state or states that have very strict gun control laws that fly in the face of the Constitution's 2nd amendment, which was written, in part, as a retort to a country who now wants to be a state. That should be a rather fun conversation, and equivalent to a dog's chasing its tail.

    2. When I am ruler of Wessex, Trump will be banished from here and forced to stay behind the wall in Scotia, condemned to play golf for eternity.

    3. That sounds promising, Tom. Maybe I should delay my travel plans until you release another bulletin.

      Best wishes.

  7. We hear over on this side that Russia and Isis are ecstatic over Brexit. They say the others will slowly break away from the EU and be easy pickings. BTW "What is the EU" was #1 Google search today.

    1. Grouchy! So you are still alive after all. When I worked in the U.S. and answered that I came from England, the most common response was, "England - That's in Europe, right?"

    2. Yes I'm alive. So post something of interest!
