    3. Shawn Maeder, they do. Though it's actually "das ist mir wurscht". As in "das ist me egal". Whether they actually don't care or just pretend not to is debatable.

    4. Shawn, it is true, we Germans do say it to declare that we don't care. I once read up on the origin of this saying and learned that it is used when it does not matter one way or the other, just like it does not matter if you start cutting a sausage into slices from the left end or the right end. Both ends are the same.
