The ostler awaits

I'm off to Oxfordshire today, and this time I am spending the night there. It will be good to have a little break from Bath - everything is still shit here, and has been for weeks.

The lunatic giant is now allowed back into the pub, and is still staring at me with murder on his mind. You have no idea how tiring and boring (at the same time) this is. Even if you only consider the one fact that he is obsessed with the idea that I have an unhealthy interest in his young (too young) girlfriend, then that alone is enough to convince anyone that he is completely deranged.

We have been locked out of all our accounts with Talk Talk - again - and I just cannot be bothered to have a 15 minute conversation with an Indian (at my own expense) to get back in again, so I'm having a short holiday from that too. I've had it with Talk Talk - they are bloody useless if anything goes wrong. Six times I have had the mechanical text message asking me to reply with one of the following: FIXED or NOT FIXED.

Tonight I will be staying in a coaching inn which dates back to the 15th century, but was modernised in the 17th century. The photos show wisteria around the frontage, but we are too early to catch it in blossom. Shame.

I was going to go back to Eynsham Hall, but they seem to have tripled their prices at the same time as lowering their standards, so I may have spent my last night there. Trying to get any hotel accommodation around Oxford is stupidly expensive, even in the middle of the week and out of the Summer season.

Avoiding the motorway, I drive through the chocolate-box-pretty village of Bibury. It is so pretty, that I would not be able to live there. Even in the Winter, there are always at least three coach-loads of Japanese tourists staring into the windows of the residents. It might be pretty, but it's not peaceful.

See you later.

  3. Enjoy Tom. Hope that giant doesn't find out where you are going and decide to take a holiday too.

  4. I've never had a giant threaten me, but I'd be reasonably flattered if it was over some young totty.

  7. I googled Bilbury. You're right; it's too pretty. Shame it's clogged with rude tourists. Enjoy yourself; your lunatic may assault someone else in your absence and get another detention.

    1. It's only a matter of time before it is someone else's turn, true.

  9. I have been to Bibury once. It was the off-season and not an oriental tourist in sight. The only person we saw was an elderly woman walking her rotund dog. Would you mind posting a picture of the inn once you have safely departed? I have a hankering to see a beautiful old building, but we would not want the giant to be able to track you down and do away with you!
