Air support needed

I look to the South and I see clear skies.

I look to the North and I see a build-up of cloud right where the meteor shower is predicted to emanate from the constellation of Perseus, Persia, Perusal, or wherever the fuck my spell-checker says it is.

For about three years now, our view of this event has been obstructed by cloud.

Now I am not normally one to slag-off God - especially on the Net - but I am rather beginning to think that Chris has got it wrong when it comes to his lack of humour and sensitivity.

Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about any other god than the Anglican one.

I would not dare, unless backed-up by the U.S. Army, and they're not backing-up much right now.

  1. Took the grand kids out to the field last night. It was so clear you could see the Milky Way. After a couple of meteorites, the kids were ready to leave. It was an incredible starry night.

    1. I used to correspond with U.S. astronomers, and they all ended their messages with 'clear skies to you', rather than 'best wishes'.

  3. 9.22 pm still daylight, the skies are clear, so methinks it will be a couple or more hours yet before we see the shower.

    1. No chance, but I can guarantee that I will be awake by 5.00am due to local gulls. Living here is exactly like living on a cliff face in Dorset.

  5. When I was about 10, I made a list of all the things that were important to me. Top was seeing the stars, then came owning poultry followed by growing a tree.
Thanks for reminding me to get out there tonight.

    1. How much effort does it take to grow a tree? I mean effort on your part, not the tree's.

  6. PS do you think that if there is a god he reads the net? I bet even He wouldn't be able to keep up with everyone's blogposts.

  7. I'd made a mental note to watch the skies last night, only to be greeted by thunder lightning and heavy rain. C'est la vie.

    1. Lots of dark skies in Wales. That's where I bought my giant telescope. Nice.

  11. The sky here has been totally clear for the last three nights and I have got up around two thirty and stood looking out of the bedroom window for about a quarter of an hour - seen the sum total of one meteor. Getting back into bed I was grateful the farmer had stayed put - human hot water bottle (one of the reasons I married him twenty two years ago next week).
