I heard an old Desert Island Discs with her and Parkinson.
That voice - after she got it back from 5 years of muteness as a child because the man who raped her was kicked to death, and she thought it was her voice which caused it - what a voice she got back.
She was just lovely. She never inspired me - I don't think I am open to that sort of inspiration. Wrong everything.
She said that if a 4 foot, 200 pound, Japanese Sumo wrestler made her laugh, then she would go with him, after her English husband died.
Ok, I know she died in May last year, but I can pretend, can't I?
ReplyDeleteA very inspirational woman …… what made you post about her today ? XXXX

Worth getting my legs amputated maybe? Maybe not.
He fancies her because she's tall with hair like his - a lookalike.
ReplyDeleteThere is an element of truth in that. That, and the brown skin - hers, not mine, you understand.
DeleteObvious to me.
DeleteAs I write this I am aware of a mewing, baby seagull in the background and I realise it is the wrong time of year.
ReplyDeleteThen I realise that it is my nose whistling as I breathe.
Hahahahaha !!!!! What a charming thought !! XXXX
DeleteLife with the over 60s!
DeleteHahaha!
DeleteA strange and fulfilled life. She certainly let nothing stop her.
ReplyDeleteYes, but I won't completely delete your deleted comment - it is one extra on the hit count.

ReplyDeleteThanks. I owe you.
Delete'I know why the caged bird sings' had a profound influence on me when it was published' - she has an incredible face.
ReplyDeleteHer spirit lives on I think.
Yes - she is truly loveable, eh?
DeleteShe had a serene way about her and a voice like chocolate
ReplyDeleteYes indeed - what a voice, and what calm, common sense spoken.
DeleteI'll never forget watching her recite "On the Pulse of Morning" at Bill Clinton's inauguration. I was mesmerized!
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget her reading selections from 'Mein Kampf' at Ronald Regan's inauguration... oh no, that was someone else.
DeleteI guess I said the wrong thing...so sorry. :(
ReplyDeleteNO! I just have a very bad sense of humour, that's all! XXX
DeleteAnd I can be overly sensitive. XXX
